I recently discovered the Muji gel-ink ballpoint pens, and decided to try them out after hearing such good things. I really love pens and stationary, and my planner so I hoped that these pens would work for me. Continue reading
2017 is just around the corner! I really like the start of the new year because it’s like a fresh start for everything. Of course you can start fresh any time you want, but the new year is also a time for new planners. There’s something really nice about writing in your new planner and creating goals for the new year. For 2017, I already have my new Erin Condren Life Planner ready to go; it’s beautiful and I can’t wait to use it. This year Michael’s Craft Store has come out with their new line of spiral bound planners from their brand, Recollections. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it, so I had to pick one up. I hope this first look/review helps you if making a decision to purchase the 2017 Recollections 12-month spiral planner. Continue reading

With so much technology at our fingertips and everything moving into digital formats, it may be hard to see why anyone would still be using a paper planner to organize and keep track of their life. Why write it down when I can send it to my cloud and access it anywhere? Although it’s true that iPhones and digital calendars can help you keep on top of the day-to-day, having a paper planner like the Erin Condren LifePlanner can help you focus and allow you the freedom to be creative while still keeping you on track. I’m super excited about my second Life Planner. I am still loving my first planner but when the new ones were released on June 12, I knew I wanted to get an 18 month one to use exclusively for work.
I chose the 18 month planner so I could start using it immediately. I feel so much more organized with my current Life Planner and I wanted to have one that I could just take to work and use for all things work-related.
I ordered one of the Classic planners in the Scales design & I picked the colors — turquoise with white personalized with my name & department. I already had some of the elastic bands from my previous planner order and was really excited how well it coordinated.
This Planner was $57.90 with shipping; it was $5 more because I chose the 18 month version instead of the 12 month. If you’re interested in buying a Life Planner & want a $10 coupon, sign up for an account through my link
What’s new? What’s the same?
Well, the double year planner (2014-2015) is thicker than the April- December planner I have. It is still the same perfect height and still is durable and solid feeling. This is not a dinky agenda that the pages will tear our of easily.
UPDATE: November 14, 2014 — Check out my new 2015 Erin Condren Life Planner HERE
I love the thick spiral binding that Erin Condren planners have. I know it’s not going to bend in my purse or work bag and it’s not going to uncoil halfway through the year.
The Planner covers are still the thick “laminated” sheets, but this year you can interchange covers! I think this is an awesome upgrade from last years’ planner. The covers are $11 – $16 each. Even though you can take off the covers, rest assured that your cover won’t come off unless you want it too. They are slightly difficult to remove and change out, but I think that’s pretty good so you know it won’t just fall off.
The planner no longer has a section in the front for “Birthdays and Anniversaries”; instead there is a “year at a glance” calendar in the front & a separate “Forget Me Not – Perpetual Calendar & Contacts” insert included in the back.
I love this insert. And I love that I can take it in and out of my planner.
Back to the Life Planner —-
There is still a nice monthly overview calendar so you can quickly identify big events or deadlines. And still a weekly view, starting on Monday each week. Each month has a different color scheme but the same layout. I really like the variety; it really just makes it fun to use and help you stay organized.
I love these weekly views because there is plenty of room to plan my days. There are three sections for each day, Morning, Day, and Night and a mini calendar in the upper left hand corner so you can still see the dates for the entire month.
There is a “Notes and Goals” section on the left column of the left page. I usually use this a a space for lists of things I want to remember throughout the week. Along the bottom of the weekly view is a section that you can use for whatever you want – meal planning, exercise log, daily to-dos, thoughts, inspiration, lists…whatever. I usually write my to-do list for the week and a little check box next to the task.
You’ll also get a Ruler/Bookmark for your Planner. I really like how this year’s ruler is transparent. It’s nice to be able to see any writing underneath without having to flip it out of the way. This year’s Ruler is thicker seeming and more substatial. Plus, I really like the design.
I love these colorful tabs for each month. Just like last year’s Planner, these plastic coated tabs will help you find the month you’re looking for and won’t rip or fall off.
There is still a “Notes” section in the back with both lined and unlined paper. I love the cute accent designs on each page. The Notes section is actually pretty large which is nice for me because I like making lists or writing down new recipe ideas.
There is a 2016-2017 Calendar in the back which is nice if you need to look that far in advance.
Like last year, there is a ton of awesome stickers included in the back of the Planner that you can use to help color code your week. Some of the stickers say things like “birthday”, “vacation” or, “dentist appt” and then there are others that are a solid color.
The back of the Planner has an amazing folder that is so convenient. I use this often and it can hold a lot.
Also included in this year’s planner is the Zipper Pouch. I love this pouch the most of any of the non-calendar features. I put receipts or stickers or notes in here and the zipper closure is very secure. I love it.
One other cool thing about my specific planner is that the inside covers are the inverse pattern of the outside. It’s little personalized touches like that that really make me excited to have an Erin Condren Planner.
Definitely check out erincondren.com if you’re looking for a new planner. And don’t forget to use my link to make your account for $10 off your order. 🙂
