Casetify Classic Grip vs. Glitter Case | Review

If you’re looking at new phone cases and you are deciding between the Liquid Glitter Cases and the Classic Grip cases from Casetify, here’s a look at my experience with each and a review of both types:

When I got my new phone, an iPhone 8 Plus, I wanted to get a cute case to accessorize and protect it. I found a beautiful glitter case from Casetify and fell in love. I’ve been using my liquid glitter case for a while now, and I absolutely love it. I did a full review here. I started looking at the other customizations and types of cases that Casetify had and I have used quite a few different ones.

The two types I have used are the Liquid Glitter Cases and the Classic Grip Cases. I just recently made an order where I bought one of each type so I thought I would compare them, show a few of the differences, and share my thoughts on each.

CASETIFY LIQUID GLITTER CASE

I had always wanted a glitter case, but didn’t have a lot of success with rhinestone cases or the kind that had glitter glued on. I was super excited to find a liquid glitter case that is super pretty and durable.

The liquid glitter cases on Casetify are available for most phones (iPhone and Samsung). When I bought my first glitter case, I chose the option to customize with text and I chose the silver glitter. This time I chose one of the art designs called Tropical Vibe and selected the silver glitter option as well. There are 7 colors of glitter you can choose from and some of the different styles have different pieces of glitter — the silver glitter has star shapes mixed in, and the unicorn pastels glitter has hearts. DESIGN

I like the liquid glitter cases because you can see the glitter cascading throughout the case and it’s so sparkly and eye-catching. It’s so pretty in person. The Tropical Vibe image is printed on the exterior of the case, so you can slightly feel it when you slide your fingers across — it feels more matte than the smooth backing of the case. I’ve never had any of my text from past cases wear off.

The liquid glitter cases are very thick to accommodate the liquid and glitter suspended between the layers of plastic. It took me a little time to get used to how different my phone felt in my hand with the added thickness, but you can use a PopSocket with the liquid glitter cases. The plastic feels very grippy through, so it’s not slippery.

PROTECTION

There is a slight lip that comes up over the front of the phone/screen which does help to protect the phone from drops. I dropped my phone with my original liquid glitter case while I was at the dentist and it landed face down on the hard floor, but the case kept my phone safe. I also have a screen protector, but it’s tempered glass and it didn’t break either so I am really happy with the glitter case protection.

CASETIFY CLASSIC GRIP CASE

I bought a Casetify Classic Grip case in February because I saw they had a pretty design for Valentine’s Day with pink and red little lips shapes all over, and when you order a the Classic Grip case, you have the option to choose from six different grip/border colors. I chose the Cotton Candy Pink color to coordinate with the lips design.

I really like that design and the color grip option, so I ordered this new Classic Grip case with the Succa art and the mint green grip/boarder to coordinate. There are 6 grip/boarder colors that you can choose from with the Classic Grip cases. Use my link for $10 off your order.

DESIGN

Even though I ordered the cases for my iPhone 8 Plus, both cases came with the headphone jack cut-out that would be on the iPhone 7 Plus. This actually really bothers me and it feels like my case isn’t symmetrical. It doesn’t affect how my phone works or how sound comes out of the speakers, but it’s annoying that they don’t really have a custom case for iPhone 8 Plus — it’s just the same case you would get with the iPhone 7 Plus.

Aside from that cut-out issue, the case fits perfectly and accommodates all the buttons and camera. The grip is actually really nice; it’s hard and smooth, but has a little squeeze to it so it’s comfortable and not slippery to hold. The case is light weight and has a slim profile; it easily can fit into my front jeans pocket.

I really like the vibrant grip color with the green in the art.

PROTECTION

I like how the case comes up slightly over the front of the screen to protect it from falls or just placing it face-down on a surface. The grip part of the case is supposed to be shock-absorbing and provide extra protection from falls. I haven’t dropped my phone with this case, but it feels like this case would give a little cushion to the phone if it fell.

COMPARISON

Both cases arrived in the same packaging — sitting on a velvet pad with a small thank you card inside a sturdy white box held closed with a black elastic band. The liquid glitter case included an additional card with quality and safety information — the liquid inside the glitter case is a non-toxic mineral oil.

Shipping was pretty reasonable too. I ordered my cases on a Saturday, and I received notice that they shipped on the next Tuesday. The shipping confirmation email gave a 2-10 day window to arrive, but my case arrived the next Monday. So it took 9 days to receive my two cases from the day I ordered it.

The liquid glitter case is slightly thicker and heavier than the classic grip case.

MY PREFERENCE

If I had to pick one of these cases, I would pick the liquid glitter cases. They just give your phone that little something extra and are so pretty. The glitter cases are more unique and you can make some more customizations with the glitter and the text. I still do love the classic grip cases for the slim profile and the colorful grip protection, but my favorite will always be the glitter cases.

I hope this review helps you make a decision on what case to get. If you have any questions about the cases, let me know and if you are making your first purchase, use my link to get $10 off your order.
