September Favorites 2019

It’s been so long since I’ve done a favorites post! It’s so crazy that it’s fall time and we’re basically in 2020. I thought it would be cool to share my favorites, so here’s everything I’ve been loving this month:

Apple Watch

I recently got the Apple Watch series 5 and I’ve been loving it so much. With the infograph watch face, I can see so much information at once. I love the colors and the always-on display. I’ll do a full review eventually, but I really love being able to send texts from my watch, and the activity rings.

Disneyland Annual Pass

I love Disneyland and it’s been amazing to get to go so frequently. We have the Disneyland Flex Pass that lets you reserve the dates that may normally be blocked out. We went recently and the parks were decorated in a Halloween theme! I’d never seen the Mickey Pumpkin before and that was so much fun.

Minnie/Little Mermaid Ears

Keeping with the Disney theme, I bought these mermaid ears that are super cute. They say “Mermaid hair, don’t care” on the side. I thought that was appropriate since I’ve been really liking my hair with the curly girl method. I also really like the purple color and the sequins. Also, these ears aren’t so tight that I get a headache like some of my other sequined ears. (Have you seen the new Tiara Ears for $600? They are super pretty, but what a price point!)

Curly Girl Hair

I’ve been keeping up with the curly girl method, and some days are better than others. I find that the gel cast is really important for me to keep my hair from becoming frizzy, but I think I need a better gel. Right now I am using the Sport Gel and the hold is really great, but it can create little white flakes as the cast breaks. I still love my Deva Curl products, but I need to find a better place to buy it. The last two times I ordered from Sephora, the bottles had leaked during shipping. I just bought the Pumpkin and Argan shampoo and conditioner from Acure so I am hoping this can be a good replacement; I’ll let you know!

Knitting

I have been knitting pretty consistently now ever since I knit my own socks and completed a baby blanket. I just finished this Flax Sweater by Tin Can Knits. I loved making a sweater even though is was just a miniature-sized one for my niece. I think I will try to recreate this for myself now that I’ve practiced how to do it. With this knit, I used DPNs for the first time and swapped out my needle sizes during a project. It was pretty fast and easy, but the garter panels made it a little challenging, especially with the DPNs. Can’t wait to knit one for myself!

Peony and Blush Suede | Jo Malone

I had wanted this fragrance for a while and I’m so happy I got it. It smells so nice and warm but also floral. It has been my main fragrance since I bought it from Sephora with a 25% off coupon. I just bought the 1oz. size since I wasn’t sure how I would like it, but I would consider buying another when I run out.

Casetify Selfie Camera Light

I didn’t think I needed a selfie camera light, but I bought this one from Casetify because of its wide angle lens. I really love being able to capture more of the background in a shot with a wide lens. It’s been really cool to have a quick light attached for selfie shots in low light or just to enhance the lighting on the back camera as well. This lens also twists to reveal a macro lens that’s pretty neat; I used it to help show some details in my Seed Bead Bracelet DIY post. It just clips on your phone so you can use it on any phone (either front or back camera), and it can work with a normal-thickness case on as well.

Birthday Crystals

I got some new crystals for my birthday and I have them all set up on my window sill. My favorite new ones are green calcite and blue calcite. Green Calcite radiates calming energies, and removes any stagnant energy in your life. It has healing properties and restores balance to the body, mind and spirit. It works with the heart chakra to bring emotional balance and relieve any stress you may feel. Blue Calcite promotes positive thinking. They both really add to my crystal corner and I love the good vibes.

Weekend Beach Walks

Lately we have been going to the beach on the weekends to eat breakfast and go for a walk. I especially love the beach in the morning because it’s still pretty cool and there aren’t many people out. Everything just feels sleepy and peaceful.

The Great British Baking Show

The Great British Baking Show is a baking competition show on Netflix. I love it because there are no crazy plot twists or million dollar grand prize. It’s just a competition to see who is the best for the sake of being the best; it just feels so calming and pure. Also, everyone on the show has always seemed super nice; no one is talking badly of anyone else and they are usually really supportive of each other. It’s just a good show all around. But this season, Netflix is releasing the episodes once each week which is quite annoying. I guess it’s to encourage people to keep their subscription going, but I would prefer all the episodes released at once. (SPOILERS: Why would they send home Michelle and Helena?! That was a poor call. V sus).

Josie Maran Sunscreen

I have been loving my Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer so much lately since it’s extra hydrating. My skin has been feeling a little dry, and I feel like the Tatcha sunscreen was making it worse with its satin/matte formula. The Josie sunscreen is definitely more oily/greasy, but it’s been so nice for me lately in making sure my face is protected without drying it out.

I hope you enjoyed this quick favorites post. I always enjoy reading these, so link me to yours or let me know if any of my favorites this month are also yours!
