Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Review

Sunscreen is super important to me; it’s rare that I leave my house without wearing any. In fact, aside from a vacation to the beach, I try to avoid the sun at all costs. That may sound extreme, but I’ve spent my fair share of time in the sun growing up, and I want to protect my skin the best I can now.

My go-to sunscreen for years has been the Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer which is amazing and has SPF 47. I have really enjoyed all of the Tatcha products that I’ve tried so when I heard about the Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen, I wanted to give it a try.

TATCHA SUNSCREEN PACKAGING

The Tatcha sunscreen comes is an opaque, teal/powder blue tube which is great for blocking light and air from the formula, but not the best for getting every last drop of product out easily. I am now almost finished with my second tube, and the only way to make sure you really got all of the sunscreen is to cut off the end.

The expiration date is printed onto the end of the tube which I really like, because I need my sunscreen to be at peak performance. I do really like the tube though — it’s easy to squeeze and control the sunscreen. The screw-on cap feels secure, and it has a luxurious feel.

SILKEN PORE PERFECTING SUNSCREEN REVIEW

The first thing I noticed about the Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen was the texture — it’s silky, velvety, and creamy. The Argan Daily Moisturizer was more liquid-y and greasy-feeling if I applied “too much”. Personally, I do use a lot of sunscreen because I’m trying to prevent burning and signs of aging — UVA/UVB rays are everywhere! This pore-perfecting sunscreen is SPF 35, and while I wish it was closer to SPF 50, I am happy with it as an everyday sunscreen.

The Tatcha sunscreen feels so creamy and absorbs nicely into my skin. I apply it to my face, neck, ears, and hands. As it absorbs, the sunscreen starts to feel like a silky matte to me. It’s super soft feeling and I do see a reduction in pore appearance. My face has an overall, subtle blur which I like.

I don’t really wear much foundation these days, but the times I have used my Hourglass foundation have been really pretty. The sunscreen created a smooth base for my makeup. Currently, I have been using Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas on top of the sunscreen for “added blurring and smoothing” and I’ve really liked it. The Silk Canvas is an actual primer, but I think they both have similar ingredients.

SUNSCREEN INGREDIENTS

  • Zinc Oxide 15% and Octisalate 5%: Provide broad-spectrum sun protection; octisalate is an emollient that keeps skin soft and prevents the formula from degrading in the sun.
  • Japanese Wild Rose: Brings the body back into balance, supports natural circulation, and calms with antioxidants; balances skin and diminishes the look of pores.
  • Hadasei-3: Restores a healthy-looking, youthful radiance with green tea, rice, and algae.

Water, Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propanediol, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Behenyl Alcohol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Eriobotrya Japonica Leaf Extract, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Glycyrrhiza Inflata Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Pistacia Lentiscus (Mastic) Gum, Sericin, Algae Extract, Lecithin, Inositol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sorbitan Tristearate, Sodium Dilauramidoglutamide Lysine, Silica, Potassium Sorbate, Beheneth-20, Sodium Acrylate/Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Dimethylacrylamide Crosspolymer, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Methicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Dimethiconol, Disodium Edta, Fragrance, Ethylhexylglycerin, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Iron Oxides (Ci77491), Tin Oxide (Ci 77861), Mica (Ci 77019), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).

Wearing this sunscreen feels nice on my skin; nourishing and hydrating. It feels like part of a good skincare routine which makes me love it even more.

There is a fragrance to this sunscreen, but it doesn’t smell too strongly to me and I don’t smell it throughout the day. I like the smell of sunscreen though, so if you’re sensitive to smells, this may not be for you.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 PA+++ is $65 for 2oz which is pretty expensive. Like I mentioned, I am just now finishing up my second tube — to me it’s worth it for a non-greasy moisturizer, sunscreen, and primer all in one. But I have started to be a little more stingy when using it until I am ready to buy another tube. Each tube lasts me 2-3 months.

I try to wait for a sale before I stock up on my staples. Sephora usually has a 15% off sale at the end of March/beginning of April. If you want to buy directly from Tatcha, you can use my link to get $20 off your purchase of $100 or more — every little bit helps! Tatcha has a .34 oz size for $15 if you just want to test it out. Or, if you want to get a gift set (better value) that includes the sunscreen, the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist (review coming soon), and the super popular Water Cream, you can save $46.

Limited Edition – PLUMP + PROTECT TRIO

Skincare/sun protection is really important to me and Tatcha has made a really great product that I love. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a non-greasy, daily sunscreen that can act as a primer/skincare. ♡
