Hand Dyed Yarn Stash

I have the most amazing little stash of hand dyed yarn right now, and I wanted to share it before I start knitting through it.

When I first started knitting, I only bought the required yarn for each project. I really liked choosing a special yarn specifically for each knit, but I wanted a small stash to be able to be more flexible with my colors and projects.

I knit a lot last year and became more comfortable with different techniques and the types of projects I like to make. I learned what colors I gravitate toward and what textures make me happy. So I started to buy skeins of yarn that fit that criteria to build up a small stash.

My Yarn Stash

There is a lot of beautiful yarn available, but rather than buying from large retailers, I like to support small businesses and indie dyers when I can. I love the gorgeous colors and uniqueness of hand dyed yarn. Each skein is a work of art on its own. I want to always remember how amazing this stash is, so here’s a look at all my beautiful hand dyed yarn:

Sweet Nesting

I discovered Sweet Nesting yarn on instagram and fell in love with her bright, beautiful, and dreamy colors. Her colors make me so happy and inspire me so much. I used Sweet Nesting yarn for my very first sweater, and for my Marled Magic Sweater.

I commissioned this custom order and it’s even more perfect than I had imagined:

La Bien Aimee

I first ordered from La Bien Aimee to get the yarn for my Favo Sweater which I love so much. I had one skein left over from that order, and have ordered a few times since then for this current stash. I love the fiber content and color choices at La Bien Aimee.

Hello Stella

I have never used Hello Stella yarn before, but I love these colors. I made my order through the Knotty Lamb online, a Hello Stella stockist based in Oregon. The colors are super vibrant and I love the rainbow they make together. I think my favorite is the Gold Rush color!

I’m in love with all of this yarn! Each skein is so beautiful and I’m so excited to get to start knitting with them. Take a look at my knitting project plans and how I plan to use this yarn.

Storage/Organization

I am wrapping up on a few WIPs right now, so I’ve left the hand dyed yarn in skeins. I have it all displayed in one of the open shelves of my cube storage unit, and they look like a little rainbow in it!

I will start winding the yarn soon with my yarn swift, so that it’ll be ready to knit with once my current WIPs are finished. Winding it all will probably take a while since I don’t have a ball winder, but I like winding by hand because it gives me more time to see and play with the yarn. Once my yarn is in cakes, I’ll store it in a clear storage bin and work from that.

I am so happy with my current little stash of hand dyed yarn, and being able to help support small businesses. Check out my Ravelry page for more of fun knits.
