We visited Pushkin’s Restaurant in Sacramento for their vegan brunch. I love it when a restaurant has a dedicated vegan menu, so I was really excited to see what Pushkin’s had to offer.

ATMOSPHERE

Pushkin’s restaurant is a cute, casual brunch spot with a trendy and open feel. In the center of the restaurant, there’s a huge bar table where we were seated. The openness of the room made it a little loud with all the people. Located at 1812 Capitol Ave, you can easily find street parking and walk to the restaurant.

MENU

There is a lot to choose from on the vegan menu from tofu scramble to an “adult grilled cheese” made with cashew pepper jack cheese. They also had a few other sandwiches that would be great for more of a lunch meal. When we arrived, it was more breakfast time for us.

WHAT WE ORDERED

As a sort of starter, we ordered the basket of vegan baked goods. It was three items, and I’m not even really sure what each was. There was a cinnamon-like crumb cake muffin, a chocolate chip (and maybe peanut butter) muffin, and a sort of maybe raisin/cranberry bread? All of it was really great, but the crumb cake one was my favorite.

For entrees, we ordered the Portobello Benedict which was so great. It was portobello mushroom and avocado top of a roasted sweet potato with tomato and sautéed spinach on a nice crusty bread and topped with this delicious vegan hollandaise sauce.

We got the Moroccan Scramble which was basically a shakshuka with spiced tomato sauce, scrambled tofu, and some crusty bread. And we also got a side of hashbrowns.

We also got the Avocado Toast to share and it was delicious with a little tofu scramble and a  slightly citrus seasoning.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Service was excellent, and everything we ordered was great.  I love that they have so many vegan options. We would definitely like to come back and try some of the other things they have. But if you go, definitely get the Portobello Benedict; it was delicious!
