If you haven’t heard of Popsockets, they’re little plastic phone grips that expand out to make it easy to hold your phone or other devices. I’d wanted one for a while, but I wasn’t sure if it would work with my phone case. I have the iPhone 6s with an Apple silicone phone case and I couldn’t find any information on if the Popsockets stick to the Apple silicone case, but I decided to try it out and see for myself. Hopefully this answers any questions you have too:
WHERE TO FIND POPSOCKETS
You can find Popsockets at lots of different retailers including Target and amazon. I’ve seen them all for about $10 or for $15 if you chose to make a customized one on the Popsocket website. I bought my Popsocket at Target, but there weren’t many options to chose from. I do like this tie dye rainbow kind I chose though; it’s super bright and abstract, and I think it looks great with my lavender phone case.
DO POPSOCKETS STICK TO APPLE SILICONE CASES
When I got home, I cut open the packaging and popped the Popsocket out. The packaging was slim and there was a tiny set of instructions inside. Clearly on the back of the packaging was a note that Popsockets don’t stick to *some* silicone phone cases. :/ I really hoped it would work with my Apple silicone case because it’s the only case I had and I really like it. I didn’t want to have to buy a new case that would work with this Popsocket.
I flipped my phone over and placed my Popsocket over where I thought I would want it to go. I wanted to get an idea of where to place it on my phone case — somewhere that wasn’t too high, and that was at a comfortable angle for when I held my phone.
Then, I took off the clear plastic covering from the adhesive side and placed it on my phone case. I pressed down firmly for a while, but it didn’t say to do that. I just wanted to make sure it was truly stuck on there. And it was perfect! Popsockets do stick to the Apple silicone cases!
HOW TO USE A POPSOCKET
The Popsocket pops out twice to extend to its full height. You can use your Popsocket as a stand to prop your phone up on its side, or just use it as a grip to help you hold your phone. If you have a larger phone, it can be difficult to hold it with one hand — so a Popsocket would be perfect to give you that extra security.
POPSOCKET + APPLE SILICONE CASE REVIEW
So far I have been loving it and I forget what my phone was like before using it. It did take me a little time to get used to texting with the Popsocket because I wasn’t used to the shape in the back. Now that I’m used to it, it’s been so awesome to have. I’m really glad that the Popsockets stick to my case and the adhesive is still strong; not showing any signs of wearing.
I bought some other camera accessories for my phone and the Popsocket was interfering with the casing. I ended up having to remove my Popsocket, but I was able to reposition it lower on the case so now it doesn’t affect my camera accessories.
I’m definitely happy with my purchase!
